Cosmetology is an emerging field in the world. People are more and more concern about their appearances, skin and aging. Cosmetologists provide personal care services that include caring for people's hair, skin, and nails. This Bachelor of Science in cosmetology program offers you an extensive training & knowledge in beauty & cosmetic formulation, analysis, manufacturing beauty cosmetology. This program will also incorporate core technical aptitudes with administrative & managerial skills, particularly required by the Beauty & Wellness area.

Course Syllabus

Department of Cosmetology

Cosmetology is an emerging field in the world. People are more and more concern about their appearances, skin and aging. Cosmetologists provide personal care services that include caring for people’s hair, skin, and nails. This Bachelor of Science in cosmetology program offers you an extensive training & knowledge in beauty & cosmetic formulation, analysis, manufacturing beauty cosmetology. This program will also incorporate core technical aptitudes with administrative & managerial skills, particularly required by the Beauty & Wellness area.

This 18 months course is conducted by Medicina Alternativa – The Open International Institute of Complementary Medicine (OIUCM), Sri Lanka and the final degree is granted by Universidad Azteca (Azteca University) – Mexico which is approved by  University Grant’s Commissions (UGC) Sri Lanka.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has predicted 10% growth rate for cosmetology related jobs from 2014 – 2024. B.Sc. in Beauty Cosmetology will open carrier opportunities in many avenues such as,

  • Pharmacy cosmetic consultant
  • Spa therapist on a cruise ship
  • Beauty consultant for international cosmetic companies
  • Freelance Beauty/ Hair consultant
